Castello di Vicarello

This robust castle is surrounded by impressive hills and the untouched nature of the Maremma area. Castello di Vicarello, built around 1100, was found by the Baccheschi Berti family fifty years ago, abandoned and in bad condition. With a lot of patience and care, they have restored it to its former glory, Castello di Vicarello oozes splendour.
Except two, all suites are situated in the castle. They are spacious, and have period features like old beams across the ceiling, authentic stone walls and a working fireplace. That owner Aurora Baccheschi Berti spent a long period of her life on Bali is clearly visible through the furnishing of the suites.
The other two accommodations are located in a separate villa, that can also be rented as a whole for everyone desiring more privacy, space or on holiday with family or a group of friends.
Breakfast is served in a larger country kitchen, where hostess Aurora prepares the most wonderful recipes for you, together with her skilful staff. The ingredients often come from the castle’s own vegetable garden.
All around the castle are vineyards, olive trees and two pools, one of which is at the villa Chiesina. A twenty kilometre drive will get you to the coast, tennis courts and a horse riding centre are closer by. What more could one desire?
