Masseria Montelauro
A Devine Dwelling
About two kilometres from the South-Italian city Otranto and the ocean, awaits a warm welcome in this prestigious Masseria.
The building has been so splendidly restored to its original nineteenth century state, that you’ll almost think you have gone back into time. Only the swimming pool, outside in the garden, betrays that it still is the year 2006. Masseria Montelauro was built in the classical structure of a convent. The use of a lot of whites and rustic furniture creates a Mediterranean atmosphere.
The rooms all have private access to the garden. Here you can have breakfast in the sun, enjoying the peace and the wonderful smells of the country surrounding you. Or have dinner of course, the hotel has a sublime kitchen serving regional dishes.
Interesting activities can be done in the area surrounding Masseria. A hike takes you past impressive cliffs, from the caves to the convent of St. Nicola and the watchtowers, the same route Byzantium monks have covered for centuries. It is also a perfect location to dive or, for example, go horse riding.
Masseria Montelauro oozes peace and warmth and is a lovely place to enjoy a holiday.
